OBSERVATION

This stage of work runs in parallel with construction to the completion of all built works. The architectural designer's role is to administer the building contract as required, then to observe the construction to determine that the completed works are built following the designer's documents and the approved consent. With the designer's involvement in the previous stages and with their detailed knowledge of the design and plans, they can pick up on inconsistencies on-site before works progress too far. This can often save the client and the builder time and money and ensure a smooth building process.
